Anniversary parties come in two sizes. A milestone – a silver or golden year – usually means family across three generations, a few speeches and a room big enough for old friends. For speeches with proper sound, The Surf Club Avoca Beach hires its first-floor hall with its own stage, plus TVs, a projector and a microphone, above the beach. Dolce Strings plays as two violins, viola and cello, indoors or outside in the shade, booked for one to three hours from $1,200. If the couple would rather dance, Midnight Black Band and Blue Vinyl both start small with an acoustic duo and scale up to five musicians.
