Decorating a party in Newcastle mostly means hiring rather than buying: light-up letters, backdrops, centrepieces and drapes that arrive, change a room for a night and go back. The decoration suppliers listed here split roughly into lighting, ceremony styling, and table and bar pieces.
Love Glows works with light. From Mayfield it brings giant LOVE signs, glowing surname letters and initials made in-house, neon in several colours, and fairy-light hangs or full canopies for function rooms and open-air dance floors, from $429.
Creative Events Hire & Weddings runs a showroom at Speers Point on Lake Macquarie, open by appointment, where a sample table is set up so you can see the look before you book. Its range covers centrepieces, chair sashes, fairy-light backdrops and fresh or silk bouquets, plus arbours and aisle runners for ceremonies.
Lovers Lane Weddings & Events, at Hamilton North, rents draping, candles, tiered tables and a champagne tower, from $187, and can take on full styling if you'd rather not set it up yourself.
