Kartatak Raceway in Tuggerah is an indoor go-kart track built for drifting. The layout throws tight hairpins at drivers between fast sweeping corners, and the karts are made to slide through them, which gives a race here a different feel from straight-line speed.
Party packages take 6 to 18 drivers. Each driver gets three 10-minute races, and the group has a private table in the covered courtyard to regroup between heats, compare times and hand out the bragging rights. Work groups can go further and book the track for exclusive hire.
The kart range makes it workable for a wide spread of ages. Junior karts take drivers from age 8, senior karts start at 12, and double karts let an adult drive with a young passenger beside them – useful when a younger sibling wants in.
