With ten minutes on the clock and one padlock still refusing to open, a team that spent the first half of the hour barely speaking to each other suddenly finds itself shouting suggestions over the top of one another. That's the pull of an escape room – a puzzle-driven hour that forces a group to actually work together, which is exactly why it's such a reliable pick for team building days and birthday groups looking for something more interactive than dinner and drinks. Sydney's escape room venues cluster through the CBD, Chatswood and the inner west, and most run several themed rooms so a bigger group can split up and compare completion times afterwards.
Pricing is typically per person, from around $35 to $50 for a 60-minute room.
Most rooms cap out at 6 to 10 players, so a larger group will often need two rooms running at the same time rather than one big booking – worth confirming the exact capacity per room and whether the venue can run sessions back-to-back if your numbers are bigger than a single room can hold.
Escape rooms tend to work well as one part of a bigger day rather than the whole event – groups often pair a session with drinks or a meal nearby afterwards, or book it alongside another activity like quiz rooms or go-karting for a longer team day out.
Send your details to a few Sydney escape room venues through Party Hero and see what they quote – it's free to enquire, and there's never a markup added on top.

Ask the venue whether they can run two rooms at the same time or back-to-back sessions, and confirm the exact capacity per room before you book.
No – rooms are designed for first-timers, so no prior experience or particular skill is needed.

Yes – pairing escape rooms with quiz rooms or go-karting is a common way to build a longer team-building day without repeating the same puzzle-solving format twice.
Some rooms are built for experienced players rather than beginners, so check the difficulty rating before booking if it's your group's first time.
