A 21st in Byron Bay tends to mix two crowds: friends who want a dance floor and family who came for the speeches. Most are held at a family home, a hired shed or a holiday house, with a DJ and a caterer doing the heavy lifting.
The order of the night matters more than the décor. Get the speeches in while everyone is still listening, then let the music take over.

Mobile DJs here bring their own sound and lighting rigs. Ask what's included at the base price of $600 and what costs extra.
It can be, as sheds on rural properties give space and fewer neighbours. Check toilets, power and whether the owner allows amplified music late.
