Around Wollongong, the tag-style option on Party Hero is laser tag rather than paintball, at Timezone & Zone Bowling Illawarra in Albion Park. The arena kits out 24 players in vests, enough for a whole class party or a decent-sized work team to take part together.
The bigger draw for a party is what surrounds the arena. Seven bumper cars and more than 70 arcade games share the building with the bowling lanes, so a group can rotate between activities and nobody waits around for long. When it's time for cake or food, there are two party rooms, a 60-seat party area on a raised deck, a café and a licensed bar.
Its occasions stretch from children's parties to 18ths and 21sts, farewells, reunions, Christmas parties and corporate team building, which says a lot about how widely laser tag appeals.
