Everything for a School Formal

A formal is planned by two groups at once. The year-advisor or parent committee books the room, the food and the music; the students care most about the arrival, the photos and the dance floor. Hunter Valley suppliers cover both lists.
The room comes first. Chateau Elan in Pokolbin has the Founders Room, which holds up to 330 for cocktails, with function packages from $79 per person and views across The Vintage golf course. That size suits a whole year group plus teachers and partners in one space.
Music is the next booking. Avid Entertainment supplies open-format DJs across Cessnock, Pokolbin and Maitland, and its DJ can take on MC duties for $500, from introductions to the formalities. Mane Events, running since 2012, pairs a DJ and MC with club-style lighting, and can bring lasers and bubble machines on request. The Bow Tie DJ Guy, Richard Hughes from East Branxton, plays formals from $200 per hour, with sound for up to 150 guests and no travel fee across the Hunter.
The arrival is what students remember. Cadillac Cartel hires two white 1959 Cadillacs, a five-seat De Ville and a Fleetwood for up to seven, driven by owners Sam and Emma themselves. Classic Limousines Newcastle runs three matching ivory 1960s limousines for six each, Krusin Kombis has a ten-seat super-stretch VW Kombi, and H2 Hunter Hummers seats 15 in a stretch Hummer, from $550 per hour.
What to book once the room is locked in:
For photos, SteelCityBooths brings an open-air booth with an attendant, unlimited prints and an online gallery from $650, and Hunter Valley Mirror Booth offers interactive mirror booths from $850. Photobooths Newcastle starts from $439, with 360 video booths and extras such as a slushy machine and lolly cart. See more photo booths or plan the after-party as a graduation party.
