Clear allBayside birthdays split neatly by setting. Along Beach Road and the Esplanade, pubs and a football club room look across Port Phillip Bay; inland in Moorabbin, the choice runs from a music-themed local to a hotel with rooms upstairs; and further south, by Mordialloc Creek, waterside pub rooms suit everything from an 18th to a 60th.
Per-head starting prices sit in a fairly tight band, so the real decision is usually the room: a balcony, a courtyard, a dance floor or a quiet corner for a family dinner.
Here is how the region's birthday rooms line up, area by area:
Cake is easy at a couple of these: Hampton Hotel lets you bring a celebration cake, and at Hotel Brighton the team will cut it and serve it on platters at no charge. Planning an 18th or 21st? Check the conditions first – Sandy by the Bay needs security and a list of guests for any 21st, and The Epsom's club licence means signing in with photo ID and under-18s leaving by 11pm.

Chelsea Heights Hotel's Bandroom holds up to 600 cocktail guests or 280 seated, with a stage, private bar and its own bathrooms. The Sandbelt's Southside space takes 300 standing, and 250 fit into the Starlight Room at The Bridge Hotel Mordialloc for a cocktail party.
Parkers Pavilion runs Front Bar parties from 20 guests, Wilbury & Sons starts at 15 guests, Hampton Hotel's Wine Room seats 22, and half of Sandringham Hotel's Deck suits 20 to 30.
Yes. Hotel Brighton allows your own celebration cake and will cut and plate it free of charge, and Hampton Hotel permits a celebration cake even though other outside food isn't allowed. A cake table is part of the set-up too: Sandy by the Bay dresses one, and the Bridge includes one.
The Epsom's Stanton Room opens onto a rooftop deck facing Port Phillip Bay, Sandy by the Bay sits behind floor-to-ceiling glass looking over Sandringham marina, and The Bridge Hotel Mordialloc's Nepean Room has a balcony over the moored boats on the creek.
