Birthday Party Venues in South East

Big suburban pubs with function rooms of their own do most of the birthday work across the South East, from Springvale Road in Mulgrave out along the Princes Highway to Hallam, with a restaurant in Dandenong for smaller groups.

Most of these rooms come with a private bar, a dance floor and a five-hour party package that bundles staff, security, platters and a bar tab, which makes a 21st or 50th easy to cost.

• Springvale – the Banksia Room at Waltzing Matilda Hotel comes with a DJ booth plus a dance floor with a disco ball, taking 40 to 250 guests cocktail style. From $50 per person.
• Hallam and Narre Warren – Hallam Hotel's Corner Bar takes 240 standing, and Fountain Gate Hotel's Jewel Room splits in two for 80 or opens up to 180. From $50 per person and from $48 per person.
• Dandenong – Dandenong Pavilion, off the Princes Highway, seats up to 50 in a semi-private room or runs stand-up parties of 30 to 80 in the bar. From $25 per person.

For family arriving from further away, Sandown Park Hotel has 14 rooms on site and the Waltzing Matilda Hotel has 18.
