About White Cockatoo Hotel

The White Cockatoo Hotel has been part of Petersham since 1886, and it stands on Terminus Street directly across from Petersham Station, so guests arriving by train are at the door within a minute. It is a genuine neighbourhood pub: a front bar that screens live sport, pool and pinball, a big dining room, two leafy courtyards where dogs can come along, and guest rooms upstairs for anyone travelling in. Functions run in two semi-private areas rather than a closed-off room. The Back Dining room, at the rear of the pub, takes up to 50 guests and works well for birthdays, family gatherings, work lunches and easy celebrations over a meal. The Nook is a snug corner for up to 30, a good size for birthday drinks or a team lunch where you still want the hum of the pub around you. Both sit close to the bar and kitchen, and the team takes seating requests. Food comes as platters of 25 pieces, from fish bites, fried chicken and duck spring rolls to lamb kofta, samosas, wings and freshly shucked oysters, and the menu covers vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free diets. Drinks can be set up as a Classic, Premium or Deluxe package for two, three or four hours, beginning at $48 per person, with a cocktail on arrival or a spirits upgrade as extras. A bar tab with a limit you choose is the other option. Cakes are welcome with no cakeage fee, and tidy decorations are fine.

The White Cockatoo does not publish a room hire fee or minimum spend. Food is priced per platter of 25 pieces, from $35 for chips to $215 for oysters, with most platters between $70 and $140. Drinks packages begin at $48 per person for two hours on the Classic package and reach $98 per person for four hours on the Deluxe.

Food

Function food is served as platters of 25 pieces: fish bites, mac and cheese bites, fried chicken, duck spring rolls, sausage rolls, calamari, bread and dips, spinach and ricotta rolls, beef pies, samosas, wings, lamb kofta, chips and freshly shucked oysters. The kitchen can cater for vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free guests, and other dietary needs can be checked with the team.

Beverages

Three drinks packages are offered for two to four hours: Classic ($48 to $74 per person) with sparkling, white, rosé, red, beer, cider and soft drinks; Premium ($59 to $87) and Deluxe ($71 to $98) with a wider wine list. Extras are a cocktail on arrival for $18 per person and a spirits upgrade at $14 per person an hour for groups of 20 or more. A bar tab with a limit you set, reviewed as the night goes on, is also available.

How do guests get there, and is it accessible?

Petersham Station is directly opposite the pub, and there is street parking nearby with time limits in places. Wheelchair users can enter through the front entrance, but the venue has no accessible toilets.
