About The Glebe Hotel

The Glebe Hotel on Bay Street has been pouring beer in Glebe since 1862, when it was called the Australian Youth Hotel. The heritage-listed building was renovated by Alexander & Co and now runs as a traditional public bar with a gastro pub kitchen, a formal dining room in the old stables, a loft above it, a beer garden and Nude, a cocktail lounge on the first floor. Functions can be seated or standing for 10 to 150 people, and every area can be shared or booked exclusively. The Stables bar and grill has exposed brick, timber tables, a working fireplace and a jacaranda mural, and seats up to 70. Upstairs, the original hay loft takes 20 to 30 seated guests with its own AV. The beer garden, shaded by a large fig tree with a covered pergola and living wall, fits 60 seated or 80 to 90 mixed, and the public bar has chesterfields, a fireplace and screens for sport, with seating for 60. Packages are tailored to each event and served by professional wait staff, with full AV available. Groups of 12 or more can order from shared and traditional set menus, including the pub's long lunch, which are detailed in the functions booklet.

Partial hire of the public bar or beer garden carries no minimum spend. Exclusive hire minimums, per the functions booklet: Pool Parlour $1,000, Midriff $2,000, Nude Lounge $2,500, Midriff and Pool Parlour together $3,000, and all of Nude $6,000. Downstairs, the Loft is $1,500 at lunch or $2,000 at dinner, the Stables dining room $3,500 or $4,500, the two combined $4,500 or $7,000, the beer garden $7,000, and the dining room, loft and beer garden together $15,000. Set menus run from $60 per person, and a 10% discretionary service fee is added for groups of 12 or more in the dining room and loft.

Food

Seated groups choose a two-course sharing menu at $60 per person, a two-course set menu at $79 per person, or a three-course bottomless lunch with two hours of rosé or pinot at $89 per person. Stand-up events use the canapé menu at $21 for 3 items, $35 for 5 or $49 for 7 per person (20 guests minimum, ordered 10 days ahead), plus half-metre pizzas at $55 each, finger sandwiches and a $20 per person grazing platter. Guests with dietary needs the menu can't cover get a separate meal.

Beverages

Drinks packages run for two to four hours: basic from $50 per person, premium from $60 per person and platinum from $70 per person, with house spirits an extra $10 per person. The tab is capped at the per-person amount you choose, after which you can top it up or switch to a cash bar.
