In Newcastle, the sip-and-create parties on Party Hero are built around clay rather than canvas, and each studio offers a very different setting.
The Art Department is a pottery studio on King Street in the city. Its private clay and sip parties give a group of 15 to 20 the whole studio for two and a half hours of guided hand-building, with all the clay and tools supplied. Guests bring their own snacks and drinks; glassware is provided, and groups of 15 or more get champagne.
Lake House Clay and Art Studio is a small lakeside studio at Coal Point, on Lake Macquarie, run by a trained art teacher. Alongside its private Clay 'n Sip workshops it runs kokedama, dried flower wreath, macrame and mosaic sessions, and every workshop is planned over the phone with the host. It takes hens nights, birthdays, kids' parties and work groups.
