About St George Sailing Club

St George Sailing Club sits on Riverside Drive in Sans Souci, built out over the Georges River a short way upstream from Botany Bay. It is a working sailing club with a public bistro focused on seafood, two bars and decks over the water, and its events team hosts milestone birthdays, engagement parties, weddings, christenings, corporate functions and team offsites. Events are open to anyone; the only condition published is a minimum of 50 guests for the private event space. The multipurpose function room is bright and white, with floor-to-ceiling windows onto the river, and flows out to covered decks. The event pack gives capacities of 170 seated with a dance floor, 200 seated without one, and 300 for a cocktail event. For conferences the room holds about 150 theatre style or 100 classroom style, and exclusive hire includes Wi-Fi, a projector and screen and a wireless microphone. Events run for five hours and include an event manager, waitstaff, bar staff, linen, cutlery and glassware. Food starts with a canapé package of five canapés and one substantial item at $69 per person, with shared banquets at $109 or $129 and plated alternate-serve menus at $129 or $149. Add-ons include arrival canapés, a grazing station and a seafood station with Sydney rock oysters and prawns. Free-flow drinks packages run for four and a half hours, from $29 per person for soft drinks to $79 for the full Bay package with house spirits, and there are meals for kids, teens and crew such as your DJ or photographer.

Canapé packages are $69 per person, with extra canapés at $6 or $9 per person each. Shared banquets cost $109 or $129 per person, and alternate-serve menus are $129 for two courses or $149 for three. Arrival canapés are $27 per person, a grazing station $30 and a seafood station $35. Kids' meals are $30 and teen and crew meals $50 per person. Drinks packages run from $29 to $79 per person.

Food

The kitchen leans towards seafood: canapés include tuna tataki, crab toasts, prawn rolls and karaage chicken, and stations offer cold meats and cheeses or freshly shucked Sydney rock oysters and prawns. Banquets are served to the table to share, with plated alternate-serve options for a more formal dinner. Dietary requirements need to be advised seven days ahead, and gluten-free versions are available on request.
