About Blackbird Cafe
Blackbird Cafe is a large restaurant and bar on the first-floor balcony of Cockle Bay Wharf, on Wheat Road in Darling Harbour. It trades from breakfast through to late evening, with a modern Australian menu of pizza, pasta, steak and seafood, and a cocktail list. Its balcony seating looks straight over Cockle Bay and the marina. For functions the venue is split across indoor dining areas and the outdoor balcony, and it can host up to 400 seated or 450 standing. There is a projector, microphone and Wi-Fi for presentations, and a resident DJ plays for private after-parties, where the venue is hired exclusively for three hours. Hens parties, corporate functions, social and formal events, school formal after-parties and cocktail-making masterclasses are all offered. Set menus need a minimum of 10 guests. The Gathering menu is $59 per person and shares wedges, pastas, salads and pizzas down the table; the Humming Bird three-course banquet is $70 per person; the Kingfisher is $80 per person with a choice of main such as rib eye or salmon; and the canapé menu is $89 per person. Drinks packages run for two or three hours: house wine, one beer and soft drinks are $55 or $70 per person, and the premium package is $65 or $80 per person. A bar tab with a set limit can be arranged instead. Bookings on Sundays and public holidays pay 10% extra.
