The Cricketers is a neighbourhood pub at 255 Darling Street in Balmain, with a public bar, a sports bar, a bistro with a bit of an Irish lean and a leafy beer garden. It keeps two areas for private functions, and the Courtyard & Pool Room is the larger of them, suited to birthdays, engagements, work drinks and casual get-togethers. This area joins the outdoor courtyard with the pool room next to it and has a bar of its own. Guests get two pool tables and a jukebox, and there is a way in from Ford Street as well as through the pub. It holds up to 120 people, with around 60 seats and room for 60 more on their feet, so it works best as a cocktail party that moves between inside and out. A $5,000 minimum spend applies to this space. For smaller numbers, the upstairs private room takes up to 80 with a private bar, a balcony and a dance floor, with no minimum spend. Food comes from a share-style function menu with a minimum of 30 people and a $900 minimum food spend. Pieces cost $4 each for items like lettuce cups, spring rolls, arancini and bruschetta, $5 for lamb kofta, chicken or prawn skewers and chicken tenders, and $7 for wings and beef, chicken or halloumi sliders, with at least 30 of each item. Vegan, vegetarian and gluten-free items are marked, and the team tailors drinks packages to the group. The pub also has AV and TVs for sport or presentations.
