Clear allOffice towers along Miller Street and the Pacific Highway make North Sydney the region's busiest end-of-year precinct, but teams based in Chatswood, St Leonards or further up the line have strong options of their own. For a December lunch with a view, Middle Harbour and Balmoral put the whole team beside the water.
Sorting the options by team size and budget:
Several venues sell lunch and evening sittings separately. Chiosco runs 12pm to 4pm or 6pm to 10pm, and Small Bar Crows Nest splits its courtyard into day and evening bookings, so a long lunch is worth weighing up alongside the usual Friday night.

The Boathouse at The Spit is the largest, at 450 for cocktails or 300 seated with a dancefloor. The Great Northern Hotel's first floor takes 300 across three private bars, and The Treehouse Hotel reaches 300 standing when the lounge and bar are added to its terrace.
From North Sydney station it's roughly a one-minute walk to Terrace Hotel on Mount Street, and The Union Hotel is roughly five minutes from Victoria Cross metro. Green Moustache, Vista @ Four Hundred and the Greenwood Hotel's Lounge Bar are all a short walk from the station too.
Yes. Chiosco by Ormeggio runs lunch functions from 12pm to 4pm, Small Bar Crows Nest takes daytime courtyard bookings from midday, Pasture of Balmoral hires its upstairs room for three-hour lunches, and The Good Room takes lunch bookings from 11:45am. Garçon Lane Cove, over at The Canopy, runs a set lunch for groups as well as canapés.
Hideout Bar's basement starts from $300 minimum spend and The Hornsby Inn's finger food from $23 per person. The Great Northern Hotel charges no room hire fee, with fingerfood menus from $38 per person, provided your group meets the minimum guest number the hotel sets. Billy Barry's canapés also start from $38 per person, and in Lane Cove, Encasa Lane Cove's group menus begin from $55 per person.
