About Ormeggio at The Spit
Ormeggio at The Spit is an Italian restaurant sitting right on the D'Albora marina off Spit Road in Mosman, looking across Middle Harbour and Pearl Bay. Buses stop at Spit West Reserve roughly 100 metres away, the council car park nearby is free after 6pm, and guests arriving by water can hire the restaurant's private berth. Three areas can be booked on their own or together. The Chef's Table seats 12 beside the window, screened from the main room by a brass mesh curtain. The Deck and the Terrazza form one waterside zone for 36 seated or 40 standing, with lounges under a shade awning for pre-drinks. The Dining Room has bi-fold windows opening to a 180-degree harbour outlook and holds 71 seated or 75 standing. Taking the whole restaurant joins all three into one open space for up to 110 at tables or 140 for a cocktail-style party. Menus are built around the Ormeggio Experience style of shared Italian cooking. Sit-down options run from a four-course Chef's Pick at $119 per person up to five and six-course menus, while exclusive events can add a $139 canapé package, a $170 four-course Italian feast and food stations such as risotto, cacio e pepe or cannoli. Drinks come as tiered packages with an optional Aperol Spritz on arrival. With the venue to yourself, a DJ can play amplified music until 10:30pm, and your own playlist can run through the house speakers to the end of the night. What do the function menus cost?
The four-course Chef's Pick menu is $119 per person, the five-course Ormeggio Experience is $240 and a six-course luxury menu is $330. For exclusive events there is also a $139 canapé package and a $170 four-course Italian feast. Minimum spends apply and are confirmed by the events team.
Can we have a DJ or live music?
Yes, when you book the whole venue. Acoustic bands can play until 10pm and a DJ with amplified sound until 10:30pm, and music through the restaurant speakers can continue to the end. Speeches with a microphone need to wrap up by 10pm. Semi-exclusive bookings share the room with other diners, so music and microphones are not available.
Can we bring our own wine or a cake?
The restaurant is fully licensed and does not allow BYO alcohol. A cake is welcome for a fee of $5.50 per person for up to 19 guests, or a flat $100, $150 or $200 for larger groups.
What deposit is needed to book?
A semi-exclusive booking is secured with a $1,000 deposit. Exclusive use needs a $2,500 deposit plus a signed booking form, and a second $2,500 payment three months before the date. Final numbers and menus are confirmed three weeks out and the balance is paid two weeks before.
