Small Bar is a cosy wine and cocktail bar at 85 Willoughby Road, Crows Nest, on the Lower North Shore. Inside it is dim and warm, with exposed brick, framed pictures and small tables. Out the back is a wine garden under a canopy of vines and fairy lights, and that courtyard is where most group functions happen. The courtyard can be booked two ways. Take the full courtyard with exclusive bar service for up to 70 people, set up for standing with some seating. Or take half of it for up to 25 guests, sharing the bar with other customers. Each option comes as a daytime booking from midday to 5:30pm or an evening booking from 6:30pm to 11:30pm. The bar also takes sit-down dinners and exclusive-use bookings, and caters for groups of all sizes. It suits a birthday, an engagement drinks or an end-of-year work party where you want a relaxed, local feel rather than a big function room. Food for functions is canapé-style from the bar's kitchen, which also serves tapas, sliders, tacos and share plates. The functions menu is available on request. Drinks focus on wine by the glass from Australia and overseas, craft and bottled beer, rum, scotch and whisky, plus cocktails. Instead of room hire there is a minimum spend on food and drinks: $1,250 for a half courtyard by day, $2,500 for a half courtyard in the evening, $2,000 for the full courtyard by day and $5,000 for the full courtyard in the evening. A deposit of $250 or $500 secures the date.
