About Chiosco by Ormeggio

Chiosco by Ormeggio sits on the jetty at d'Albora Marina on Spit Road, Mosman, next door to its sister restaurant Ormeggio. Alessandro and Anna Pavoni launched it in 2014 as a relaxed Italian trattoria with views over Middle Harbour, and it is sheltered and air-conditioned whatever the weather. Buses stop at Spit West Reserve on Spit Road and at Spit East Reserve on Parriwi Road, both a few minutes' walk away, and there is metered parking at Spit West Reserve. Group bookings run from 15 guests to the whole room. A table of 15 to 20 can book in the main dining room. The Western Half is a semi-exclusive section screened with plant dividers, with up to 16 guests at one long table or 23 across three. The Western Full extends that to 42 seated. Exclusive hire gives you the entire restaurant for 90 seated or 110 guests with canapés. Semi-exclusive and exclusive functions run as a lunch from 12pm to 4pm or a dinner from 6pm to 10pm, and minimum spends apply. The food is Italian seaside cooking designed for sharing. Set feasts cost $89, $109 or $129 per person, moving from calamari and busiate pasta up to king prawns and wagyu. A canapé reception costs $95 per person. For drinks, you can bring your own wine at $20 corkage a bottle, take the BYO all-inclusive package at $42 per person, or choose one of three drinks packages. An events coordinator looks after each booking from enquiry to the day itself.

Sharing feasts cost $89, $109 or $129 per person, and the canapé reception $95 per person. Minimum spends apply to semi-exclusive and exclusive bookings. A $1,000 deposit confirms those bookings, with a second $1,000 for exclusive events three months out and full payment two weeks before. A 10% surcharge applies to semi-exclusive and exclusive functions, plus 15% on public holidays.

Food

Italian seaside food served family-style: sourdough with olive oil, buffalo mozzarella, vitello tonnato, crudo, handmade busiate pasta, grilled king prawns, sirloin or wagyu, and tiramisù. The canapé reception mixes oysters, arancini, calamari and skewers with pasta bowls and desserts. Gluten-free, vegan and halal needs can be catered for.

Beverages

Three drinks packages cover water, soft drinks, beer, prosecco or Franciacorta, and Italian and local wines, priced by single or double seating. An Aperol spritz on arrival can be added. BYO bottled wine is allowed at $20 corkage, or $42 per person on the BYO all-inclusive package.

What are the function menus?

Can we bring our own wine?

Yes. Bottled wine only, with $20 corkage per bottle. The BYO all-inclusive package at $42 per person covers corkage plus water, soft drinks, juice, tea and coffee. BYO beer and spirits aren't allowed.

What are the function times?

Semi-exclusive and exclusive functions run from 12pm to 4pm for lunch or 6pm to 10pm for dinner. Drinks service stops 15 minutes before the end.

What deposit is needed?

Semi-exclusive and exclusive bookings need credit card details, a signed contract and a $1,000 deposit. Exclusive events pay a second $1,000 deposit three months out, and every function is paid in full two weeks before the date.
