About Main Diner & Sunset Balcony @ Foys Kirribilli

Foys Kirribilli is the restaurant and bar inside the Sydney Flying Squadron, the open-boat sailing club on McDougall Street in Kirribilli. The club sits right on Careening Cove, looking across Milson Park and the moored boats, and the kitchen leans towards seafood and bistro dishes. It runs as a public restaurant as well as a function venue. The Main Diner is the club's largest room: an airy, white-walled space with big windows, timber floors and a long bar, hung with sailing prints and memorabilia. Taking it exclusively also gives your group the sunset balcony that runs along the waterfront side. It holds 110 guests seated or 170 standing. For smaller parties, part of the diner can be partitioned off for up to 60 standing or 30 seated with shared balcony access, and the club also has the Heritage Room, the Saloon Bar and the open-air Flying Bear Deck below. Food comes from a set of event packages. Canapé menus run from $50 to $85 per person, shared two-course menus are $75 or $90, and there are grazing, seafood and paella stations as add-ons. Drinks can be an unlimited package for two to four hours from $55 per person, a bar tab set to your limit, or a cash bar. An in-house sound system handles background music from your own device, and the events team can suggest AV and entertainment suppliers. Amplified music has to stop by 11.30pm.

Canapé packages cost $50 per person for five classic canapés, $75 per person adding two substantial pieces, and $85 per person for six classic and three substantial. Seated shared menus are $75 per person for the classic two courses or $90 per person for the premium version. Food stations include antipasto grazing at $39 per person and chilled seafood at $59 per person, each for 30 or more guests. Every event has a minimum spend on food and drinks, confirmed in your quote. A 30% non-refundable deposit secures the date, the balance is due seven days before, and a 5% gratuity applies. Sundays carry a 10% surcharge on payments made on the day and public holidays 15%.

Food

Menus lean towards seafood and modern bistro dishes: canapés such as arancini, beef skewers, fish tacos and sliders, shared entrées and mains for seated dinners, and optional platters or stations including paella, seafood and antipasto. Gluten-free, lactose-free, vegetarian, vegan and pescatarian meals are available at no extra cost with advance notice. A celebration cake can be brought in and served for $5 per person.

Beverages

The standard drinks package covers sparkling, white and red wine, beer and soft drinks for $55 per person for two hours, $65 for three or $75 for four. The premium package adds more wine choices and cider for $69, $79 or $89 per person. You can instead run a bar tab capped at your minimum spend or another limit, or set up a cash bar. Batched cocktails can be pre-ordered. BYO drinks are not permitted.

Events can run between 7am and 11pm, and the Main Diner is booked through the Foys events team by enquiry form or email. Final numbers are due seven working days before the event, and bookings for fewer than 30 guests go through standard restaurant reservations.

What do function packages cost at Foys Kirribilli?

Canapé packages are $50, $75 or $85 per person depending on how many classic and substantial pieces you choose. Seated two-course shared menus are $75 or $90 per person. Beverage packages start at $55 per person for two hours. A minimum spend applies to every event and is set out in your quote.

Can Foys cater for dietary requirements?

Yes. Gluten-free, lactose-free, vegetarian, vegan and pescatarian meals are provided at no extra cost if requested in advance, and dietary needs are due 14 days before the event. The kitchen handles nuts, shellfish, sesame and gluten, so it can't promise allergen-free food.

Can we bring our own drinks or a cake?

No outside food or alcohol is allowed, apart from a celebration cake, which staff will cut and plate for a $5 per person cakeage fee.

Does Foys host 18th and 21st birthday parties?

The venue's liquor licence does not allow 18th birthday parties. 21sts can be booked, but extra security is required and is charged to the client.
