About Paradise Valley Hotel
Paradise Valley Hotel sits on the Belgrave-Gembrook Road in Clematis, deep in the Dandenong Ranges, and has traded on this spot since the 1880s. Locals know it as The Clemo, and the Puffing Billy railway runs right past the back of the property. The pub takes functions of many sizes across six areas. The bistro is the main room, with bar access and room for 150 seated or 230 standing, while the bistro deck next door is a light, glassed-in space among the treetops that bi-fold doors can separate from the bistro. For something smaller, the Clematis Room is a private room near the bistro that seats 24, or takes 45 for drinks and nibbles. The public bar is a casual space for a party of up to 120 standing, and the outdoor deck can be dressed with a marquee, lights or music for a bigger event. The rear gardens hold 50 to 500 guests for a cocktail-style event with the steam trains as a backdrop. Exclusive hire is possible depending on the space, and minimum spends apply to garden bookings and exclusive events. Food comes from the pub's own kitchen, with function menus in share-style, set-course and canapé formats built on local produce. Drinks can be set up as packages – from simple beer and wine to a premium range – or run as a cash bar. A microphone, speakers and a screen are available, and outside DJs or bands can be booked with the pub's approval. On-site parking is provided, and the licence finishes at midnight – send an enquiry to book an inspection or check a date.

Frequently asked questions
How many guests can Paradise Valley Hotel hold for a function?
Groups from about 10 up to 500 can be hosted, depending on the space. The Clematis Room seats 24 (45 standing), the public bar takes 120 standing, the bistro seats 150 or holds 230 standing, and the rear gardens suit 50 to 500 for a cocktail-style event.
Is there a private room for a smaller party?
Yes. The Clematis Room is a tucked-away room beside the bistro that gives a smaller group some privacy, with seating for 24 or room for 45 standing. Bi-fold doors also let the bistro deck be shut off from the main pub for a larger group dinner.
What food is served at functions?
The kitchen offers function menus in share-style, set-course and canapé formats using local produce, and menus are sent on enquiry. Vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and Halal needs can be catered for when dietary details are supplied before the menu is finalised.
Can we bring our own cake or hire a DJ?
A celebration cake is welcome – let the team know ahead so plates, service and fridge space can be arranged. Your own DJ, band or other entertainment can be booked with the venue's approval, and a microphone, speakers and screen are available in-house.
Is there a minimum spend or deposit?
Minimum spends apply to all beer garden bookings and to exclusive events, with the amount depending on the space and date. A deposit secures the date, and its amount and terms are set out in the function agreement.
