About Micawber Tavern
Micawber Tavern is a century-old pub on Monbulk Road in Belgrave, in the Dandenong Ranges, with an Irish leaning and Guinness on tap. Forest surrounds the building, and its beer garden runs down among tree ferns to Clematis Creek. The tavern hosts milestone birthdays, wedding receptions, corporate functions and conferences across six separate areas. Each one can be booked on its own, and the events team shapes a package around the group and the budget. The Bistro is the main indoor room, seating 85 or holding 120 for a cocktail event, with a stage for live music, big windows onto the greenery and a corner fireplace. The Deck has full blinds and heaters for use in any season, seating 50 or holding 70 standing. The Bar suits a lively night with full bar service and screens, taking 70 seated or 100 standing. The front room fits 20 to 30 for a meal or meeting, while Slowey's Bar, an enclosed outdoor bar with a TV, takes up to 50, and the beer garden holds 120 in the warmer months. Food runs from canapé packages and grazing stations to shared and alternate-drop menus, with all dietary needs catered for separately. Drinks can be set up as a timed package or a pre-agreed bar tab. How many guests can Micawber Tavern hold for a function?
The Bistro and the beer garden each take up to 120 standing, and the Bistro seats 85. The Bar holds 100 standing or 70 seated, the Deck 70 standing or 50 seated, Slowey's Bar 50 standing and the front room up to 30.
What do the function food packages cost?
Canapé packages run from $47.50 to $73.50 per person, depending on how many cold, hot and substantial items you choose. Shared menus start at $60 per person, with an alternate-drop menu at $65.50 and a set menu at $75.50. A cheese and charcuterie grazing station can be added for $12.50 per person.
Are drinks packages available?
Yes. The standard package is $65 per person for two hours, $75 for three and $85 for four, and the premium package is $75, $85 or $95 per person for the same lengths. You can also run a bar tab, with the amount and drinks agreed with the functions manager beforehand.
What deposit is needed to confirm a booking?
A 20% deposit confirms the date and is non-refundable. The balance is due seven days before the event, and final numbers and menu choices are confirmed 14 days out.
How late can a function run?
Function spaces are available from 11am until 10pm, seven days a week. On Friday and Saturday nights the tavern is licensed until 1am.
