About The Groundz
The Groundz is the old Dapto showground on the Princes Highway, a 22-acre precinct owned by the not-for-profit Dapto A&H Society, with the Illawarra escarpment as its backdrop. Besides the annual show, markets and sporting clubs, it runs the Tap House, a beer garden with a large awning, a deck bar on the lawn and an outdoor stage, plus several indoor rooms that take private functions and weddings. The Gable is the old pavilion shed reworked as a barn-style room, with a high pitched roof, polished concrete, festoon lights, a stone fireplace and a bar built from recycled pallets pouring four beers on tap. Long tables and wine barrels let it run seated or as a cocktail party for 60 to 110. The Main Bar sits in the southern building and is the most flexible space: air-conditioned, with a fireplace, its own private bar and restrooms, and room for 40 to 120. For a big event, the whole Tap House (the awning, the green, The Gable, the stage and an outdoor bar) can be booked exclusively for 250 to 650 guests on limited weekday and selected Friday and Sunday dates. The Gable and the Tap House are fully catered by Culinarius Catering and Fine Foods. In the Main Bar you can use one of the venue's catering partners or arrange your own food, decorations and entertainment such as a DJ or photo booth. Drinks are from the venue's licensed bars only, bar tabs can be set up on request, and bands are allowed only with an exclusive Tap House hire, on the outdoor stage.

Frequently asked questions
What function spaces are there and how many do they hold?
The Gable takes 60 to 110, the Main Bar 40 to 120, and The Poultry Shed suits cocktail-style weddings of 50 to 110. Exclusive hire of the whole Tap House needs at least 250 guests and goes up to 650.
Can we bring our own food?
In the Main Bar, yes: you can organise your own catering or use one of the venue's catering partners. The Gable and the Tap House are fully catered by Culinarius Catering and Fine Foods, and only a cake may be brought in.
Can we bring our own drinks?
No. Every space is licensed and drinks come from the venue's bars. A staff member runs a private bar for Main Bar functions, and bar tabs are available on request.
Can we have a DJ or live band?
A solo musician or DJ can be booked at your cost once the venue approves. A band needs an exclusive hire of the whole Tap House and has to play on the outdoor stage rather than indoors.
When can the whole Tap House be booked?
Exclusive hire is limited, usually Monday to Thursday plus selected Fridays and Sundays outside the busiest trading periods. The whisky bar is not part of that hire and may stay open to the public.
