Panorama House sits high on the escarpment at 811 Princes Highway, Maddens Plains, in the area locals know as Bulli Tops. It runs as both a restaurant and a function centre, and the view is the point: the dining rooms look out over the coastline and the ocean below. A function team coordinates each booking from first enquiry to the night itself. There are five rooms. The Pacific Room seats around 40 to 80, the Mediterranean Room 80 to 120, the Marquee 90 to about 170 and the Ocean View Room 100 to about 180, while the Full Room opens the space up for 200 adults and beyond, with cocktail-style weddings quoted for up to 550 guests. Rooms are dressed with linen, glassware and Tiffany chairs, and the formal packages add a polished parquetry dance floor, room lighting, an overhead projector with screens and a cordless microphone. Galleries also show outdoor ceremony set-ups on the clifftop lawn, including a white gazebo. For birthdays, anniversaries and other group celebrations, the group packages are the starting point: bread, then two courses served alternately or a buffet of eight hot dishes and three salads, with a three-hour beer, wine and soft drink package, from $75 per person. A second tier adds a third course or desserts and a fourth hour. Extras include platters, antipasto, seafood, spirit upgrades, a DJ and a return bus from the Wollongong CBD. Weddings, school formals, corporate conferences and memorial gatherings each have their own packages.
