About North Wollongong Hotel
North Wollongong Hotel, known locally as North Gong, is a large multi-level pub on Flinders Street in North Wollongong, directly across from North Wollongong station and near the beach. It has three bars, a bistro open seven days, a sports bar called Teddy's and a big beer garden, plus a car park on site. Private functions are held in the Level One Function Room, which takes up the whole top floor. It has a private bar, its own toilets, lift access and two balconies looking towards the escarpment at sunset, with bi-fold windows overlooking the beer garden. The room holds 140 for cocktails or 60 seated, and comes with a wireless microphone, projector, TV, AUX connection and space for a dance floor or DJ. For something more casual, the dog-friendly beer garden takes group bookings of up to 500, with giant connect four, a half basketball court and sports screens; a $200 holding fee secures a 3.5-hour booking and is credited back as a bar tab. Evening functions upstairs carry a minimum spend from $1,500 on weeknights, rising on Fridays and Saturdays, while daytime functions pay a $200 room hire fee in some months. Party packages cost $2,700 for 60 guests, $3,800 for 80 and $4,900 for 100, each with free room hire, a bar tab, cocktail food and cake service. Cocktail menus run from $35 per person, buffet or alternate-drop dinners from $50 per person and unlimited pizza for two hours is $30 per person. Drinks packages for four hours run from $60 per person, or you can set a bar tab. 18th and 21st birthdays need a security guard, charged by the hour.

What is the minimum spend upstairs?
Evening functions from 5.30pm have a minimum spend from $1,500 on weeknights, $2,000 on Fridays in the busier months and $2,500 to $3,000 on Saturdays. Daytime functions pay a $200 room hire fee in some months. Public holidays have a $2,000 minimum spend.
Are there all-inclusive party packages?
Yes. The Party package is $2,700 for 60 guests, Ultimate is $3,800 for 80 and Mega is $4,900 for 100. Each includes free room hire, a bar tab of $500 to $1,000, six or eight cocktail food items, cake cutting, and use of a cake plinth and backdrop hoop.
What drinks options are there?
Four-hour packages are $60 per person for tap beer, house wine and soft drinks, $80 per person with bottled beer and basic spirits, or $100 per person for all beers, ciders, wines and mid-range spirits. You can also run a bar tab with a dollar limit.
Do 18th and 21st birthdays need security?
Yes. A security guard must be booked for at least four hours, charged hourly at weekday, Saturday and Sunday rates on top of the minimum spend. Bars close at 11.30pm, or 9.30pm on Sundays.
