About Sorrento Room @ Centro CBD
Centro CBD is an Italian restaurant and event centre at 28 Stewart Street in Wollongong, tucked behind the city library with a council car park next door. Downstairs is the restaurant, a smaller private room and an outdoor courtyard; upstairs is the Sorrento Room, the venue's largest space for celebrations. The Sorrento Room is dressed with black drapery on the side walls and crystal chandeliers overhead, with LED effects lighting on the stage and walls. A black and white dance floor sits in the middle, the room has a private bar of its own, and guests can spill out to an adjoining foyer and balcony. It takes 260 for a cocktail party with dancing, 240 seated with the dance floor in place, 265 seated without it, or 220 in cabaret style. A sound system with wireless microphones and two large projector screens handles speeches, slideshows and entertainers. Menus are Italian. Cocktail finger food runs from $44 per person for eight items, sharing menus from $52, and plated set menus from $72 for two courses or $82 for three, with extras such as antipasto, garlic prawns or oysters. For 35 or more adults there are four-hour drinks packages at $55 or $60 per person, or you can run a bar tab or let guests buy their own. The room carries a minimum spend that depends on the date, plus a $500 set-up fee, and functions run for up to four hours. It hosts engagements, christenings, birthdays, anniversaries, school formals, fundraisers and corporate events.
