Tins & Wood is an Italian and Mediterranean restaurant at 3/12 Tindale Street in Penrith, on the corner where Tindale and Woodriff streets meet. Both streets take their names from early Penrith figures, John Tindale and Captain Daniel Woodriff, and the restaurant borrows that history for its name and its rooms. The kitchen leans on family recipes: breads, pizzas on 13-inch bases, build-your-own pasta and slow-cooked mains. For private events there are three areas. The Olive Room is the biggest and takes up to 50 guests, which suits a larger birthday, engagement or Christmas dinner. The Woodriff Room is a cosier space for up to 36, good for a family reunion, a business lunch or a private dinner. The Deck is an open-air spot with a view that holds up to 24, and works best for a smaller group on a warm evening. Function food is priced per person. The banquet is the simplest option: focaccia and garlic bread to start, then unlimited pizzas and pastas with an Italian garden salad, for groups of eight or more. There are also set menus of three courses (two versions) and four courses, each for a minimum of six people, with a choice of mains such as barramundi, chicken supreme, lamb shoulder and veal. Extras like squid, arancini, bruschetta, king prawns and dessert can be added to the banquet. Drinks can be covered with a 2.5-hour package of beer, wine and soft drinks, and dietary needs are handled on request. Enquiries go through the function form on the website or by phone.
