About Lovat
Lovat is a modern neighbourhood restaurant in The Palms complex at 316-324 Barrenjoey Road, Newport. Its menu leans on market-fresh seafood and quality steaks cooked simply on the grill, alongside shared starters and gnocchi made in the kitchen each day. The room is full of natural light from large curved windows, and there are tables outside for those who want the sea air. For events, the restaurant is split into three bookable areas. Space One is a semi-private feasting table in a secluded corner, seating 10 to 16. Space Two takes over half the main dining floor for 25 to 30 guests in a lounge-style, semi-private setup. Space Three spreads across half the restaurant for 35 to 40 people. For bigger occasions the whole restaurant can be booked for exclusive use. Birthdays, hens lunches, baby showers, intimate weddings and work events are all on the list. The events menus include a ladies lunch at $64 per person, which starts with olives, burrata and prosecco before shared entrées and a choice of mains such as barramundi curry, mussels, rump steak or gnocchi, with dessert optional. There is also a bottomless lunch at $99 per person, a banquet menu and a breakfast set menu, and the chef will build a custom menu on request. Lovat is fully licensed with no BYO. Groups under 30 confirm numbers 48 hours ahead, while larger groups confirm a week out and pay a 50% deposit.

How many guests can Lovat host?

What set menus are there for events?

Is a deposit required?
For groups under 30 no deposit is needed; card details are held and numbers are confirmed 48 hours before. Groups of 30 or more confirm numbers seven days ahead and pay a 50% deposit. Late cancellations incur a $50 per person fee.
Can we bring our own wine?
No. Lovat is fully licensed and does not allow BYO. Arrival champagne or cocktails can be pre-ordered on the group booking form.
Are there extra charges to know about?
A service charge is added to the bill for larger groups, a 10% surcharge applies on Sundays and 15% on public holidays, and card payments carry a small fee.
