About Wave Art
Wave Art is an art studio on Alexander Street in Crows Nest, founded by artist Ali Greene, who spent decades working in early childhood education before turning to painting. Alongside weekly classes for children, teens and adults, the studio hosts private painting parties for birthdays, hens groups, Christmas functions, school fundraisers and workplace teams. Nobody needs any art background: a lead artist demonstrates each stage at the front while a second artist moves between the easels helping guests along. Kids' birthday parties run for two hours on Saturday and Sunday afternoons, and there is a shorter guided session on Saturdays for preschool and kindy children. Older children, teens and adults can choose a three-hour party instead, with bigger canvases and a more relaxed pace. For adults, private paint and sip evenings start from 6pm and run as BYO sessions for guests aged 18 and over, so the group can bring beer, wine, cider or sealed premixed drinks. The studio at 68 Alexander Street suits intimate groups of around a dozen, while the atelier at number 64 takes parties of up to 30 and has a kitchen, a fridge, a cake stand, platters and wine glasses for guests to use. Food is BYO, and the host can arrive half an hour early to set out decorations. Workplace groups can book midweek, painting individual keepsakes or working together on one shared piece for the office wall. Two gentle assistance dogs, Pixie and Cherry, are often around the studio.

How much does a private paint party cost?
A two-hour party for up to 10 guests is $650, plus $55 for each extra child. The three-hour option is $770 for up to 10 guests, plus $65 for each additional guest.
How many guests can Wave Art host?
The studio at 68 Alexander Street suits small groups of about 12, and the atelier at number 64 fits larger parties of up to 30 guests.
Can we bring our own food and drinks?
Yes. Food is BYO, and one adult can come in 30 minutes early to set up. Adult parties are BYO for beer, wine, cider and sealed premixes, but shots and straight spirits aren't allowed.
Do guests need any painting experience?
No. A lead artist demonstrates each step while an assisting artist helps at the easels, so complete beginners still finish with a painting to take home.
Are there dogs at the studio?
Often, yes. Pixie and Cherry are the studio's assistance dogs, so let the team know ahead of time if any guests have allergies or concerns.
