About Sydney Seafood School
Sydney Seafood School is the cooking school inside Sydney Fish Market, set on the mezzanine level of the market building on Bridge Road, Glebe. Its facilities include a tiered auditorium, rows of fully fitted cooking benches, a dining room and a dedicated event space, all staffed by a team of seafood specialists. The program spans hands-on classes, guest chef sessions, demonstrations and tastings, as well as specialised classes for kids aged 7 to 13. A typical hands-on class starts in the auditorium with a live demonstration of the dishes. Guests then move to the benches, which take up to six people each, and cook the same recipes with staff on hand to help, before sitting down together to eat what they have made with a complimentary drink. Public classes range from $90 to $300 depending on length and what is included, and everyone takes home an apron and a recipe booklet. For groups, the school runs private classes that can be customised for birthdays, hens nights, family reunions, staff Christmas parties and team building days. These follow the same auditorium-to-bench format and can be combined with a function in Ngara, the event space next door with views over Blackwattle Bay. Guests aged 15 and over can attend on their own, and 12 to 14 year olds can come with an adult. BYO isn't permitted, but drinks are included, and many classes can be adjusted for dietary needs if you call ahead. Wear closed, non-slip shoes, and allow for parking costs or catch public transport.

Frequently asked questions
How much do classes cost?
Public classes range from $90 to $300 a person depending on how long they run and what is included. There are no group discounts, but private classes for companies and groups are quoted on enquiry.
Can we book a private class for our team or party?
Yes. Private classes can be tailored for birthdays, hens nights, family reunions, staff Christmas parties and team days, and combined with a meal or drinks in the Ngara event space.
Is the class BYO?
No, guests can't bring their own alcohol. Drinks are included instead, usually one as you arrive and one when you sit down to eat, and alcohol isn't served to anyone under 18.
What should we wear and bring?
Wear enclosed, non-slip shoes. Bring a pen if you want to take notes and a container for leftovers; the school supplies everything else, including an apron and recipe booklet to keep.
Where do we park?
Parking is in the Sydney Fish Market basement car park at the signposted rates, with a $15 flat evening rate for entry after 5pm. There is no discount for class guests, so public transport is recommended.
