About The Coastal Italian
The Coastal Italian is a small cooking school and homewares store at Shop 4, 166 Glebe Point Road in Glebe, run by chef Davide after close to two decades working in restaurant kitchens. Classes are hands-on: you make pasta dough from scratch, work it into different shapes and cook sauces to go with them, drawing on recipes from the Italian Riviera and regional Italy. Each class ends with everyone eating what they cooked. The public calendar covers Pasta for Beginners evenings, weekend Pasta, Gnocchi and Ravioli masterclasses, regional classes built around the food of Tuscany, Puglia, Sicily and Sardinia, a Pasta Date Night, and shorter midweek sessions focused on a single pasta dish or a set of spaghetti sauces. Midweek evening classes run from 6pm to 8.30pm, and the weekend masterclasses and regional classes run for three hours from 10am. For team building or a private event, groups enquire directly with Davide, and couples can book an exclusive three-hour private class for two. A complimentary Italian drink and antipasto are served while you cook, and the private class for two comes with a recipe book to take home. The venue is not licensed and BYO alcohol is not allowed, so the drinks included with the class are what is served. Classes are for guests aged 18 and over, and dietary requirements should be raised with Davide before booking, as not every requirement can be accommodated. It suits groups of friends, work teams and couples who want to cook together rather than just eat out.

How much does a class at The Coastal Italian cost?
Ticketed classes start at $80 per person for the midweek sauce and one-dish sessions. Pasta for Beginners is $110 per person, and the weekend masterclasses and regional classes are $150 to $160 per person. A private class for two is $450.
How long do the classes run?
Midweek evening classes run for two and a half hours, from 6pm to 8.30pm. Weekend masterclasses and regional classes run for three hours, from 10am to 1pm. The private class for two is also three hours.
Can I book a private cooking class for my group or team?
Yes. The Coastal Italian runs team building and private events, and group numbers and menus are arranged by enquiry with Davide. Private bookings need a one-third deposit once the date and numbers are confirmed, with the balance due seven days before.
Are drinks included, and can we bring our own?
A complimentary Italian drink and antipasto are included in the class. The venue is not licensed and BYO alcohol is not permitted.
Is there an age limit?
