About Our Big Kitchen
Our Big Kitchen, known as OBK, is a community kitchen on Flood Street in Bondi run by a registered charity. Volunteers and visiting groups cook and pack the meals it sends to more than 33 partner charities, and the kitchen says it turns out over 250,000 meals a year. Booking a group session means your team or party does the cooking, and the food goes to people who need it. Corporate team-building is the main paid format. Half-day bookings run from 9am to 12pm or 12:30pm to 3pm and give the group two and a half to three hours in the kitchen. It costs $90 per person plus GST, with a minimum of eight people, and lunch can be added for $30 a head. The session opens with an introduction to OBK and who the meals help, then everyone takes part in the OBK Challenge by cooking a hot meal, and the finished meals can be packed with your company logo. Photos are welcome throughout. Private groups are hosted too, including birthdays, hens parties, kitchen teas, baby showers, graduations, challah bakes and family get-togethers. There are set packages for children's parties, with a 90-minute kitchen booking, an entertainer, a snack table, a craft table, a cake, and cookie and cupcake decorating for $550 plus GST on weekdays or $650 plus GST on Sundays. It suits workplaces looking for a volunteering day, and friends who would like a celebration that gives something back.

How much does a team-building session cost?
A half-day corporate session is $90 per person plus GST, and lunch can be added for another $30 per person. As OBK is a registered charity, the cost is tax deductible.
What is the minimum group size?
Corporate sessions need at least eight people. The children's birthday packages are priced for 30 children, with each extra child $10.
How long does a session last?
Team bookings get the kitchen for two and a half to three hours, in either a 9am to 12pm or a 12:30pm to 3pm slot. Children's party packages include a 90-minute kitchen booking.
Can we book a hens party or private celebration?
Yes. OBK hosts birthdays, hens parties, kitchen teas, baby showers, graduations, challah bakes and family gatherings. Send an enquiry through their group events form for current options and prices.
What happens if we need to cancel?
Cancelled events aren't refunded, but if you cancel at least a week ahead the payment can be used as credit for a later event, depending on availability. OBK will also try to move your date if needed.
