About Jams Karaoke & Bar
Jams Karaoke & Bar is on Union Street in Newcastle West, a Japanese-inspired karaoke venue with a public bar, a kitchen, a beer garden and a set of private karaoke rooms. The bar pours seasonal cocktails, whisky, sake, gin and beer brewed for the venue, and the kitchen serves Osaka-style street food late into the night. Outside the kids' karaoke sessions it is strictly 18 and over. There are two ways to book a group. The private karaoke rooms are soundproofed like small recording studios, each with authentic Japanese machines stocked with plenty of English songs, a touch-screen song selector, two microphones and a panel for ordering food and drinks to the room. Rooms are allocated by group size, and the largest, the Party Room, takes 11 to 20 people. For bigger groups, the whole bar can be hired for private Bar Karaoke for 20 or more, with up to 40 bookable online and larger numbers by arrangement. Bar hire runs any time on weekdays and Sundays and until 8pm on Fridays and Saturdays, after which the group can stay on as the bar opens to the public. Room and bar hire is charged by the hour, with a two-hour minimum for private bar bookings, and food and drinks are paid for at the end of the session, split however the group likes. Food packages and a live karaoke musician can be arranged for functions. Takoyaki, karaage chicken, vegan gyoza and edamame feature on the menu, and cake is welcome. The venue is ambulant accessible only, as the building sits well above street level.

How much does it cost to hire the bar for karaoke?
Private Bar Karaoke for groups of 20 or more is charged by the hour with a two-hour minimum, which comes to $400 for the shortest booking. Sunday and public holiday bookings cost 10% more.
Can we book the bar on a Friday or Saturday night?
Yes, but private bar bookings on Fridays and Saturdays finish at 8pm. Your group can stay on afterwards, but the bar then opens to the public.
Can we bring a birthday cake?
Yes. Leave the cake with the bar staff and collect it whenever you are ready.
Is Jams wheelchair accessible?
No. The building's floor sits well above street level, so the venue is ambulant accessible only.
