About Ravella

Ravella occupies a building at 48 Watt Street in Newcastle that dates back to 1905 and was brought back to life as an event venue. It runs as an all-inclusive wedding and function venue, and every booking takes the whole place, so there are no other parties sharing the building. The venue is made up of three connected spaces holding up to 200 guests in total. The Atrium is the arrival space, full of daylight, and leads guests through to the Grand Hall, the main dining room, with herringbone floors, crystal chandeliers and draped curtains. From there the night moves into the Cocktail Bar, a darker, more intimate room with a lowered ceiling hung with colour-changing lanterns and a full bar. Couples can hold the ceremony, canapes and reception all on site, and furniture is part of the package, though hosts can bring extra pieces or a stylist. Catering is handled exclusively in-house by Alfie's Italian. Canape menus run from classic to substantial, and seated options include a shared Italian banquet and a two or three-course alternate drop, with food stations such as gnocchi, pizza and a gelato cart as extras. Drinks are offered as an hourly package with optional upgrades, on consumption with a bar tab limit, or paid by guests. Separate catering and beverage minimum spends apply and are lower from Sunday to Thursday. Beyond weddings, Ravella takes corporate functions and private celebrations, and offers reduced rates midweek and in selected winter months.

Pricing

Catering has a minimum spend of $3,500 from Sunday to Thursday and $4,000 on Fridays and Saturdays, and beverages carry the same minimum spends. Canapes are priced per piece per person: $6 classic, $10 premium and $15 substantial. The shared Italian banquet is $100 per person, the two-course alternate drop is $100 per person, and a third course adds $10 per person. The beverage package is $20 per person per hour with a two-hour minimum. Off-peak pricing applies in selected winter months and for midweek events.

Food

Alfie's Italian caters exclusively. Canapes come in classic, premium and substantial tiers, plus dessert canapes. Seated options are a shared Italian banquet (antipasti, a pasta, a main and two sides) or an alternate drop of two or three courses. Extras include an oyster bar, gnocchi and pizza stations, a gelato cart, cake service and late-night bites. Menus are marked for gluten-free, coeliac, vegetarian, vegan, dairy-free and nut-free needs.

Beverages

An hourly drinks package covers prosecco, white and red wines and beers, with upgrades to premium sparkling, wines and spirits. Hosts can instead set a bar tab limit on consumption or have guests buy their own drinks; minimum spends apply to both. Service stops 30 minutes before the event ends.

Availability

Ravella is an events-only venue booked through the enquiry form on its website; midweek dates and selected winter months attract lower rates.
