About 8 at Trinity

8 at Trinity is a modern Australian restaurant with a strong Mediterranean seaside feel, built on the marina at Trinity Point in Morisset Park on the western side of Lake Macquarie. The building sits a few steps from the water, looking over Bardens Bay with bushland behind it, and guests can even arrive by boat using the marina berths. For private functions the venue is booked in sections or as a whole. The main dining room seats about 120, the inside dining room with the deck about 110, and the entire restaurant around 230 at the custom marble tables. Outside, the green terrace deck, the cocktail bar deck and the grass area act as spaces for pre-dinner drinks and canapés, holding up to 350 standing across all three, under umbrellas. Ceremonies can be held on the front lawns and gardens on request, and the timber decking on the ground floor can be cleared for dancing once dinner is done. Functions are built on sit-down packages: arrival canapés, warm bread and two, three or four courses served as an alternate drop or shared plates, priced per person. Unlimited beverage packages run for three, four or five hours at three levels, or drinks can be charged on consumption against the minimum spend. An events manager plans the day with you, and floor staff work at one waiter to every fifteen guests. DJs, MCs, a screen and projector, styling and a coat attendant can be arranged at extra cost. Lunch events finish by 4pm, and dinner events start from 6pm and wrap up by 11pm (10pm on Sundays).

Pricing

Minimum spends for exclusive use are guarantees on food and drink, not room hire. They change with the season, the day of the week and whether it's lunch or dinner, so the events team quotes them for your date.

Food

Every function package opens with three canapés per guest and warm house-made bread, followed by entrée, main and dessert as an alternate drop or shared plates depending on the package. The cooking is modern Australian with Mediterranean influences, using seasonal local seafood and produce. Extra canapés, sides, oysters, seafood tasting plates and antipasto platters can be added, and most dietary requirements can be met with two weeks' notice.

Beverages

Unlimited beverage packages cover sparkling, white, red and rosé wine, beer and soft drinks for three, four or five hours, from $62 per person on the standard list up to a deluxe Champagne list. Non-alcoholic packages start at $23 per person. Drinks on consumption against the minimum spend are also an option. No BYO.

Frequently asked questions

How many guests can 8 at Trinity hold for a private event?

The whole restaurant seats around 230. The main dining room on its own seats about 120, and the inside dining room plus deck about 110. The terraces and lawn add room for up to 350 during pre-dinner drinks.

Is there a minimum spend for exclusive use?

Yes. Exclusive use of the whole venue carries a minimum spend on food and drink that varies by season, day and lunch or dinner, so the events team quotes it for your date.

What food is served at functions?

Sit-down packages include arrival canapés, house-made bread and two, three or four courses, from $128 per person. Most dietary needs can be catered for if they are given to the event planner in writing two weeks ahead.

Can we bring our own drinks?

No, BYO is not allowed. Choose an unlimited beverage package for three to five hours, or switch to drinks on consumption counted towards the minimum spend. Non-alcoholic packages are also offered.

Is there room to dance and can we hire a DJ?

Yes. The timber floor on the ground level can be used for dancing at no extra charge, and tables can be cleared after dinner to open it up. The venue can source a DJ or MC at extra cost, or you can bring your own.
