About The Pig & Whistle
The Pig & Whistle is a British-themed country pub on Purves Road in Main Ridge, set on around 30 acres of rolling hills above Port Phillip. Alongside the pub itself the property has an English garden, a theatre and a farmhouse. For private events there are three spaces to choose from. The Cellar Bar, once the old milking shed, is a quirky lounge filled with odd furniture and curios, warmed by an open fire and looking over the vineyard, where kangaroos often graze. The Shed Theatre is a converted machinery shed that hosts live music most weeks. Set up theatre-style it holds 100 people plus another 30 standing, or 45 seated at tables for a dinner. The Restaurant is a cosy 90-seat dining room with a rustic British feel. The menu leans on hearty pub classics such as bangers and mash and beef and Guinness pie, with beers on tap and a wine list built around local makers. Functions start at 30 guests, and the venue has its own functions and events team to help plan the day. Outside suppliers, live acts and decorations are welcome, subject to the venue's terms.
