Green Olive at Red Hill is a 27-acre working farm on Mornington-Flinders Road in Main Ridge, in the Red Hill wine country of the Mornington Peninsula. The O'Donoghue family has been growing olives here since 2002, along with grapes, lemons, herbs, vegetables and native bush food, and they raise their own sheep. The property sits on a hillside in the Peninsula hinterland, roughly six kilometres from the bay and seven from the ocean. Beyond the restaurant there is an olive grove, a vineyard, a lemon grove, a natural spring lake, Main Creek and seven acres of remnant bush. For celebrations the farm offers both semi-private and private options. A seated long-table lunch takes up to 100 guests, while a roaming canapé event can hold up to 200. Events can be run sit-down or cocktail style and shaped around what you have in mind. Weddings make good use of the grounds, with ceremonies held among the olive trees, in the vineyard, beside the lake or in the bushland. The team works with couples through the planning, and the reception follows on the farm. The kitchen writes a paddock-to-plate menu that shifts with the seasons. Chefs gather herbs and vegetables from the kitchen garden each day and fill the gaps with produce from nearby farms, and the wine poured is the estate's own. For workplaces there are private pasta-making classes, farm tours paired with a grazing lunch, or a relaxed food and wine afternoon.
