The Commercial Hotel is a heritage pub on Plenty Road in South Morang, run as a family bistro, sports bar and function venue. Its functions offer centres on the Function Room, which is the pub's sports bar set aside for private events, with a second, smaller area called Sofia's Corner inside the bistro for more intimate seated groups. The Function Room can be taken as a whole or split with a dividing wall. Half the room holds about 110 guests standing, 70 seated or 120 theatre style; the full room takes up to 700 standing, 200 seated or 300 theatre style. The space has a fully stocked bar, its own bathrooms and access to audio-visual equipment, and there is a stage where you can set up your own DJ or band. Half-room bookings run on a prepaid minimum spend, while the full room is booked with a cocktail package. Food comes from the pub kitchen, which leans Italian. Stand-up canapé packages start at $22 per person for six items, rising to $32 for eight and $36 for ten, with substantial items such as sliders and fish and chips at $10 each. Grazing stations come in savoury, seafood and sweet versions for 25 or 50 guests, and seated groups can choose a Classic set menu from $45 per person for two courses or a Premium set menu from $55.
