About Stags Head Hotel
The Stags Head Hotel sits at 39 Cecil Street in Williamstown, a pub that has traded on this corner since the 1850s, first as the Shamrock Hotel before taking its current name a few years later. The Bennett family run it today, and the restored building keeps its period character – an open fire, Chesterfield seating and a front bar where live music plays on Sunday afternoons. There are two private function areas. The dining room is a traditional, cosy space that seats 40 for a sit-down meal or holds 50 for a cocktail-style party. Out the back, the beer garden is a tucked-away courtyard with a fixed cover and heaters for the cooler months; it seats 36 or takes 50 standing. Each is booked for four hours of exclusive use, and the two can be hired together when the guest list is larger. Food comes from the pub kitchen. Seated functions choose a two- or three-course set menu built around your taste and budget, while groups of 30 or fewer can order from the à la carte menu instead. For a standing event there is a selection of hot and cold canapés. Drinks can be arranged as a beverage package drawn from the bar list, or as a bar tab with a limit and inclusions you set. Food and drink spending both count towards the room's minimum spend, and the team asks for dietary needs in advance so the kitchen can plan for them.
