About Prince Alfred Carlton
Prince Alfred, often called PA's, is a pub at 191 Grattan Street in Carlton, on the corner of Bouverie Street near the University of Melbourne and the CBD. It is open seven days from midday, and it runs functions from casual semi-private bookings through to hire of the entire building. Upstairs is where most parties happen. Booked as Upstairs Exclusive, the whole level comes with its own bar, bathrooms, dance floor and a private rooftop, along with TVs, a microphone and a DJ booth, and it holds 250 cocktail-style. If you don't need the roof, Upstairs Inside takes 200 with the same private bar, bathroom and dance floor. The Top Bar suits a more relaxed event of 80 standing or 40 seated, with bar access and both indoor and rooftop space. Downstairs, the dining room is a quieter room for 50 standing or 40 seated. Hiring the whole pub lifts capacity to 500. Spaces are heated and cooled and have disabled access, and pool table use is included. The function pack lists canapés by the platter, more substantial items such as sliders and bao, a grazing table, cakes and a BBQ package with burger, sausage or barramundi add-ons. Custom options such as sit-down dinners and shared menus can be arranged. Drinks come as two- to four-hour packages, a bar tab on consumption or a token system, and DJs or a photo booth can be added.
