About Diagora Events

Diagora Events is a dedicated function venue at 42–46 Straker Street, North Melbourne. It runs only private events, from casual celebrations to formal dinners, so the space is yours for the night. The interior mixes polished concrete floors with marble-look feature walls, curved velvet banquettes and backlit bars. An upstairs mezzanine works for arrival drinks, and there are both indoor and outdoor areas, including an undercover outdoor space for smokers. The venue holds up to 300 guests for a cocktail party. Seated, it fits 160 with a dance floor in place, or around 200 without one, at round or long tables dressed in black or white linen. All food is cooked in-house. Choose a grazing menu of arrival bites, bowl dishes and desserts, a cocktail menu of six items a head split between hot and cold, or a plated meal with two options for each course served alternately. Drinks run on beverage packages priced per head, covering red and white wine, sparkling, full and light beer and soft drinks, with spirits as an extra. The venue holds a late liquor licence, and the team can call taxis for guests at the end of the night. In-house AV, a projector and LED theme lighting come with the space, and a stage can be hired at extra cost. Pricing

Diagora does not publish function prices. Catering and beverage packages are priced per guest and quoted to suit the date, numbers and menu chosen.

For wedding and sit-down events, extra charges apply after 11pm, and a security officer is required at the hirer's cost.

Food

Everything is prepared by the in-house kitchen. The grazing menu offers arrival bites such as arancini, oysters and petite brioche, then bowl dishes like lamb cutlets, flathead or risotto, and desserts from lamingtons to churros.

The cocktail menu runs to six pieces a head, with options like sliders, croquettes, empanadas and California rolls. Plated menus offer two choices per course served alternately, with mains such as chicken breast, lamb rump, barramundi and beef fillet.

Beverages

Beverage packages are charged per head and include red and white wine, sparkling, heavy and light beer, soft drinks and still water. Whisky, bourbon, rum, ouzo and brandy can be added as extras.

How many guests does Diagora Events hold?

Up to 300 for a standing cocktail event. For a seated dinner, the room takes 160 with a dance floor or around 200 without one.

What catering packages are available?

There are four food styles: a grazing menu with three arrival items, two bowl dishes and two desserts; a cocktail menu of six items per head, three cold and three hot; plated meals with a choice of two dishes per course served alternately; and a sit-down package built for receptions. Add-ons such as oysters, a cheese board and sweet items can be added to the cocktail menu.

How do drinks work at a function?

Drinks are sold as beverage packages charged per guest, covering red, white and sparkling wine, full-strength and light beer, soft drinks and water. Spirits can be added as an extra.

Is there AV and lighting?

Yes. The venue has in-house sound and audio-visual gear, a projector, Wi-Fi and LED theme lighting in a choice of six colours. A stage is available for an additional hire fee.

Is the venue accessible?

Yes. There is lift access for guests with limited mobility, and the space is air-conditioned and heated. Free street parking is available along Straker Street, and Macaulay station is close by.
