About Morning Star Hotel

The Morning Star Hotel sits on the corner of Electra Street in Williamstown, a corner pub with a white rendered facade, arched windows and tables set out on the footpath. Inside, the rooms have been fitted out with tiled floors, orange leather banquettes, timber tables and a long bar backed by shelves of bottles, and there is an outdoor drinking area with umbrellas and festoon lights. The pub runs a functions page under the banner of partying at the Star, and it handles events and group bookings of more than 12 people through an enquiry form. Groups can settle into the dining rooms for a seated meal or keep things casual with platters passed around the bar and outdoor areas. No room capacities are published, so the team confirms numbers and the best area when you enquire. The set menu costs $75 per person and is served sharing style: you pick three starters, such as pork rillettes, scallops in garlic butter or spiced lamb ribs, and two mains from options including chorizo-stuffed pork belly, roast chicken, a mushroom and spinach Wellington and slow-roasted lamb shoulder. Individual desserts add $10 per person. For a standing party, platters of 30 pieces cost $200 each – cheeseburger sliders, miso chicken skewers, sausage rolls, kingfish tartare, oysters and vegetarian falafel sliders among them – and grazing boards of charcuterie, cheese or grilled vegetables are also $200. At the bar there are local and imported beers on tap, spritzes, cocktails and a long wine list.

Great old atmosphere with an old school bar you can walk all the way around, and real fire place. Schnitzel was on the smaller side but made up for how good it taste. Chips were some of the best I’ve had!
