About Lulu's Social
Lulu's Social is a locally owned bar and kitchen at 162 Union Road in Ascot Vale. It pours cocktails, tap beer and a long wine list, and cooks a Tex-Mex menu of tacos, nachos and smoked meats. Private events are a big part of what it does, from milestone birthdays to work lunches. Groups can be as small as 10 or as large as 120 across the venue's three areas. The main bar has high and low tables, open floor for dancing and glass windows that fold open to the street. It holds 40 seated or 70 standing and has room for a band or DJ. Behind it sits a fully covered back courtyard with gas heaters, its own TV and sound, taking 20 seated or 40 standing. Out the front, the footpath area can be fenced off for 50 standing or seat up to 40 under umbrellas. Function food is canapé style, cooked to order, with a classics selection from $28 per person and a premium range priced between $30 and $45 per person. The kitchen can work around gluten-free, vegan, vegetarian and halal guests. There is no minimum spend, and hosts can arrive from 1pm to decorate. Drinks run on a bar tab, pay-as-you-go or a two-hour package, and the venue usually closes to the public for events, so send an enquiry to book.

Drinks packages run for a minimum of two hours and start at $35, $50 or $70 per person depending on the tier. A $1,000 deposit secures the date, with food paid seven days ahead and the drinks tab paid on arrival.
Food
The premium range adds wagyu and chicken skewers, brisket tacos, bao, sliders, lamb kofta and lobster rolls. Menus can be customised, and the kitchen caters for gluten-free, vegan, vegetarian and halal diets. Cakes are cut and served at no charge.

Can we play our own music and show a slideshow?
Yes. The sound system runs through the whole venue and staff can play your Spotify playlist, or you can bring in a band or DJ. A microphone and speaker are available for speeches, and two 75-inch TVs will play photos from a USB stick.
How late can a party run, and what are the payment terms?
The outdoor courtyard has to close at 11pm, and last drinks inside are called at midnight. A $1,000 deposit holds the date, food is paid in full seven days before, and the bar tab is settled on arrival.
