About Carosello
Carosello is an Italian restaurant at 22 Margaret Street, Moonee Ponds, directly across from the train station with a free car park next door. It has been feeding the suburb since the 1960s, and the current owners run it with recipes handed down from the family kitchen – wood-fired pizza, pasta cut by hand and steaks from the grill. The dining room is dark and moody, with black subway tiles, timber tables and pink neon signage. Functions take over part or all of the restaurant depending on the night. On Tuesday to Thursday and Sunday evenings the team can host a group of up to 50, while Friday and Saturday nights are capped at 15 guests. The restaurant lists birthdays, engagements, anniversaries, baptisms, christenings and corporate dinners among the events it hosts, and you can drop in during service to look at the space before you book. There is no room or venue fee. Instead, every function is served the Feed Me menu, a shared spread at $69 per person that runs through entrees, pasta, pizza and mains, built from the restaurant's signature dishes and adjusted for dietary requirements. Guests order drinks from the full list of cocktails, Italian and local wines and imported beers – the restaurant does not run drinks packages and is not BYO. A birthday cake can be brought in for a cakeage charge, and a whole bowl of the pistachio tiramisu can be pre-ordered for the table. Music is the restaurant's own; your own playlist cannot be played.
