About Preston Reservoir Bowls Club
Preston Reservoir Bowls Club traces its story back to 1908, when the Preston club first formed, and after the Preston and Reservoir clubs merged, the combined club settled at the Reservoir grounds. That Leamington Street site, built on an old quarry beside Edwardes Lake Park, has three grass greens, a large clubhouse, a fully licensed bar and secure off-street parking for around 70 cars. Barefoot bowls is the easy entry point for a social group. The club hands over the green and the bowls, the barbecues are there for a sausage sizzle, and the bar keeps the drinks coming, so all you need is a crew and a free afternoon. Smaller groups of up to six pay per head, children under ten bowl at a lower rate with an adult alongside them, and groups of up to ten can hire a lane outright. If anyone wants a few pointers, the club's accredited coaches give free coaching on Sunday mornings from 10am to 12pm. When the gathering is bigger than a game on the green, the clubrooms take over. They seat up to 150, with room for more standing, and come with a dance floor, a large commercial kitchen and the bar. The club hosts birthdays, engagements, weddings, Christmas parties, corporate events and seminars, and a dedicated venue manager helps shape each booking. Bowls bookings go through the club's barefoot bowls coordinators by phone, email or the online enquiry form, and function enquiries go through the venue manager.
