About Moorabbin Bowls Club
Moorabbin Bowls Club sits right beside RSEA Park, the St Kilda Football Club's home ground, and runs three greens – two grass and one synthetic, the synthetic one lit for evening play. It is a volunteer-run community club that opens its greens to non-members for barefoot bowls and its clubrooms for private functions. Barefoot bowls runs on Friday afternoons and evenings through the warmer months, and groups of 20 or more can also book a Sunday afternoon. The fee covers the green, bowls, jacks and mats, and a member will set your group up and run through the rules, so nobody needs to have bowled before. There is no set finish time – you can keep playing until the light goes. Around eight people share each rink, children under 15 play at a lower rate with smaller bowls, and the green is wheelchair accessible. Bring your own food and use the BBQ at no cost; drinks come from the licensed bar. For bigger occasions, the hall takes up to 300 guests with table seating for 150, a commercial kitchen, BBQs, a full bar with beer on tap, AV gear for speeches, pool tables and darts. Bowls can be added to any function, with loan bowls, coaching and an organised competition if your group wants one. The club also runs kids' bowls parties supervised by members who hold Working with Children checks, plus a meeting room for twelve for smaller work sessions.

Frequently asked questions
How much does barefoot bowls cost at Moorabbin Bowls Club?
Friday barefoot bowls is $15 for each adult and $10 for children under 15. That covers the green fee plus bowls, jacks and mats, and bowls added to a private function is listed at $20 a head.
When can groups play barefoot bowls?
Barefoot bowls runs from 5pm on Friday afternoons and evenings across the warmer months. Groups of 20 or more can also book a Sunday afternoon, and there is no time limit – you can bowl until it gets dark.
Can we bring food and drinks?
You can bring your own food and snacks and use the club BBQ free of charge. The club is fully licensed, so alcohol and other drinks cannot be brought in – the bar sells beer, wine, spirits, pre-mixed and soft drinks, and you can run a tab.
What should we wear, and do we need bowling experience?
Bare feet are fine, as are thongs, sandals or other flat-soled footwear – just leave heels at home. No experience is needed – a club member gives your group a rundown of the game and supplies bowls in a range of sizes and weights.
What happens if it rains?
Light showers do not close the green. If the weather turns severe the club will refund or move your booking, and there are pool tables, darts and table tennis indoors if you want to wait it out.
