About Middle Park Bowls Club
Middle Park Bowls Club has been part of the neighbourhood since 1903, and its three grass greens are open to anyone who wants a casual game – no membership needed. Small groups can walk up and play, while bigger parties book rinks ahead. Each rink takes up to eight bowlers, and the club says it can handle anything from two people to crowds of more than 500. Before the first end, staff explain how the game works and the safety basics, so complete beginners are fine. The pricing is simple: casual bowlers pay by the hour, with no two-hour minimum and no extra charge at peak times, and barefoot bowling carries on even on Saturday afternoons while pennant matches are being played. Play barefoot, in proper bowls shoes or in flat thongs without treads, and come dressed for the sun, as the greens are outdoors. The club is fully licensed with drinks at club prices, and the kitchen serves pub-style meals. Inside there are pool tables, darts, table tennis and a full-size snooker table to keep everyone busy between games. For something larger, the main clubroom seats up to 150 (300 standing) and the Pavilion Room seats 50 (80 standing), with a cheaper Pavilion rate when bowls are part of the booking. The club hosts corporate events and Christmas parties, birthdays, engagement parties, hens and bucks groups, training days and fundraisers. If the weather turns on the day, a bowling booking can be moved, or the party can carry on in the clubrooms without rink hire being charged. Getting there is easy: the Route 96 tram stops at the gate and there is parking on site.

Frequently asked questions
How much does barefoot bowls cost at Middle Park Bowls Club?
Casual bowlers pay $10 per hour each. For larger bookings, rinks can be hired at $132 per rink per hour, and there is no two-hour minimum or peak-time premium.
How many people can we bring?
The club takes groups from two people up to more than 500. Each rink holds a maximum of eight players, so larger parties are spread over several rinks across the three greens.
What should we wear for barefoot bowls?
Bowl barefoot, in lawn bowls shoes, or in flat thongs with no tread. You are outside in the sun the whole time, so wear sun-smart clothing and bring sunscreen.
Can we bring our own drinks?
No – the club is fully licensed and does not allow BYO. The bar stocks a range of beers, wines and spirits at club prices, and responsible service of alcohol applies.
Is there a function room for a party or work event?
Yes. The main clubroom holds up to 150 seated or 300 standing, and the Pavilion Room holds up to 50 seated or 80 standing. Pavilion hire is cheaper when the booking includes bowls.
