About Bennettswood Bowling Club
Bennettswood Bowling Club has been part of Burwood since 1960, when local residents built its greens and clubhouse largely by hand. Known around the area as the Wood, it sits in the Gardiners Creek Reserve with an entrance off Station Street, and it still runs as a volunteer-led community club that welcomes social players alongside its pennant teams. For groups, the drawcard is barefoot bowls on two real grass greens. Bowls are supplied, the game is easy to pick up, and club members are happy to help organise the day whether you are bringing six friends or a hundred colleagues. Adults pay $10 each and children $5, so it works for a family birthday as well as a staff afternoon or Christmas break-up. The club also hosts corporate bowls days where clients and teams can play a few ends, then settle in for food and a drink. The clubhouse seats up to 150, and a separate lounge bar area suits smaller gatherings of 10 to 30. Hire runs in half-day blocks, either 10am to 4pm or 5pm to 11pm, for $500. You can self-cater by hiring the club kitchen, with an outdoor BBQ available as an add-on, or have the club put on a BBQ of sausages, hamburgers and salads at $25 a head. The bar opens on request and BYO is not allowed. A $200 deposit holds a booking, with the balance due 72 hours before the event. The clubhouse has also hosted weddings, reunions and birthday parties over the years.

Couldn't have been more helpful and accommodating for a family party. Typical club house feel but was able to decorate how we wanted and even ask for specific drinks to be bought for the bar.
