About Malvern Bowling Club
Malvern Bowling Club has occupied the same small block on Coonil Crescent, behind Cabrini Hospital, for more than 110 years. It is a compact, tight-knit community club that fields pennant sides, but it puts just as much effort into social bowls, newcomers and groups who simply want an afternoon or evening out on the green. Flat-soled shoes or bare feet are the only real requirement. Groups can book their own rink for a corporate or family outing, and the club pitches its business bowls as an alternative to a corporate golf day: everyone starts and finishes together, stays within easy talking distance, and almost anyone can roll a bowl well enough to contribute. The green has lights, so sessions can start late in the afternoon and run until around 9:30pm, and the club's coaches and volunteers set up games for the group. A large barbecue sits beside the green, and the licensed bar, run by volunteers, carries beer, wine, cider, premixed drinks, spirits and soft drinks. On Wednesday evenings through the bowls season, non-members can also join barefoot bowls with the bar and a community meal, as long as they phone ahead. The hall covers 160 square metres and holds 40 to 80 people depending on layout. It is a bright, airy room with polished timber floors, honour boards, ceiling fans and reverse-cycle air conditioning, and it comes with WiFi, a laptop, a 4K projector and drop-down screen, a whiteboard, a portable PA, dimmable lighting and folding tables and seating for 80. The kitchen next door is fully fitted for caterers or self-catering, and there is room out the front for a coffee or food van. It suits milestone birthdays, engagements, anniversaries, Christmas parties, training days and presentations, with green time added by arrangement.

Frequently asked questions
Can a work group book a rink without being members?
Yes. The club takes group bookings for corporate and family groups who want their own rink, and its business bowls sessions can run from late afternoon until around 9:30pm under lights. Bookings are made by phone or email.
How many people does the hall hold?
The hall is 160 square metres and takes between 40 and 80 people, depending on how much space each guest needs. Folding tables and seating for up to 80 are supplied and can be set out however you like.
Can we self-cater a function at the club?
Yes. The kitchen beside the hall has crockery, cutlery, fridges, a commercial dishwasher, gas oven and cooktop, urn, food warmer and microwave, with its own side door for caterers. A coffee or food van can also park out front.
What drinks are available?
The club's licensed bar is run by volunteers and stocks beer, wine, cider, premixed drinks, spirits and soft drinks. A large barbecue beside the green is also available for groups.
What should we wear on the green?
Bowls shoes with completely flat soles are needed on the green, or you can play in bare feet. Club bowls are available to borrow, so newcomers do not need their own equipment.

Thank you to MBC for a great night out last night. Big thanks to Micheal, Andy, John and all who helped out during our Xmas function. Great venue, great people and a great little hidden spot in Malvern.
