About The Royal Muswellbrook
The Royal is a heritage hotel at 12 Bridge Street, Muswellbrook, at the top of the main street and a few minutes from the train station. The current building opened in 1893 on the first block of land sold in the town, and today it trades as a pub with a front bar, a view room, a dining room, a sports room, a courtyard pizza bar and a rear courtyard, plus 18 hotel rooms. Functions can use six areas. The Cellar is an intimate private room for sit-down meals of up to 16, and The Loft takes up to 30 for stand-up drinks, lunches, dinners or presentations; each carries a $100 room hire. The View holds up to 60, The Chamber up to 20, and The Courtyard and The Beer Garden each take up to 100, with no hire charge for any of these four. Hire runs for four hours, with an hour beforehand to decorate, and weekend evening functions wind up from 11pm. The whole hotel can be booked for a large celebration. The functions packages cover cocktail and seated events. Shared platters of 30 pieces cost $120, single-item hero platters $135, and grazing boards $280 or $550 depending on numbers. Seated options include prime-cut char-grill packages from $50 per person, a two-course alternate serve at $60 per person for 20 or more, and three courses at $80 per person for 10 or more. Butcher's boards and seafood towers can be ordered ahead, and table service in the private rooms costs $75 per staff member. The team also caters off-site across the Upper Hunter.
